Motion is one of the most complete creative analytics tools for paid social. It groups and tags every ad, compares hooks and formats, and now runs AI agents that write weekly retros and briefs. The usual reasons to look elsewhere are cost, scope and stage.
Cost. Starter is $999 a month for up to $50k of monthly spend, and the tiers above it are quoted. For a brand spending $5k a month on ads, the tool would cost a fifth of the media budget.
Scope. Motion analyses ads. It does not make them or launch them, so a team still needs editors, designers and a media buyer around it.
Stage. Analytics pay off when there are enough creatives and enough spend to find patterns. An account running six ads does not have much for AI tagging to learn from.
Starter costs $999 a month and covers unlimited seats and ad accounts for brands spending up to $50k a month. Pro, above $50k, adds Northbeam and GA4 attribution; Growth, above $125k, adds a dedicated CSM and private Slack support. Both are quoted after a demo. A free trial needs no card. Vibiz has no free plan or trial: Pro is $79 a month, or $63 a month billed yearly. The head-to-head is on Vibiz vs Motion.
Keep creative analytics, pay less. Atria Core is $129 a month billed yearly and analyses five ad accounts with up to $500K of monthly spend, alongside an ad library and competitor tracking. Foreplay's Lens sits inside the $175 Workflow plan and does not price by spend. Either suits a creative team that wants Motion-style reports without Motion's entry price.
Swap insight for automation. Madgicx adds automated rules, targeting and ad management to its reporting, and its spend tiers start below $1K a month, though the main price is only visible inside the app.
Focus on the creative before launch. AdCreative.ai generates creatives and offers Competitor Insights from $20 a month billed yearly. It does not analyse your own account the way Motion does.
Fix production first. If the honest problem is that you do not have enough ads to analyse, Vibiz makes static ads and UGC-style videos from your website, launches them on Meta or as Google Search and Display campaigns, then pauses losers and moves budget to winners. Its own site tag counts conversions alongside Meta's numbers. It is not a creative tagging tool; it is the step that comes before one. See the Meta and Google ads manager.
Export the reports your team relies on and write down the three questions you open Motion to answer each week. Then check each alternative against those questions with your own ad account connected. If an alternative cannot answer them, the cheaper price is not a saving.
