5 AdRoll alternatives for retargeting and AI ads

AdRoll publishes no subscription price and is built to retarget traffic you already have. People look elsewhere for a published price, tighter control of Meta campaigns, or a tool that also makes the ads.

Why AdRoll stops fitting

AdRoll is a good answer to a specific question: how do I keep reaching the people who already visited my site, wherever they browse? As of October 2026 it answers with display, native, video, in-app and connected TV inventory, dynamic product ads, a Social Ads add-on and an attribution layer. What it does not do is tell you the price. The pricing page lists a self-serve Ads package, a managed one and an annual Advanced Package, all without figures, and explains that cost follows a dynamic CPM with no minimum spend.

That leaves three groups looking around. Owners who want to know the bill before they start. Advertisers whose money is really going into Meta and who want finer control there. And businesses that discover retargeting needs traffic and creatives they do not yet have.

Which alternative for which gap

You like AdRoll's model. Criteo is the obvious comparison: commerce-data retargeting across the open web and social, with GO campaigns that the company says go live in about ten minutes. Like AdRoll, it sells through sales.

You want a visible price and spend on Meta. AdEspresso lists Starter at $49 a month for up to $1,000 in monthly ad spend and Plus at $99 with no cap. You build and split test Facebook and Instagram campaigns yourself; the ad spend is billed by Facebook. Madgicx goes further with AI optimisation and server-side tracking, though its plan price depends on your spend and appears inside the app.

You manage campaigns at scale. Birch, formerly Revealbot, prices by monthly ad spend and automates rules, reports and bulk launches across Meta, Google, Snapchat and TikTok accounts. It assumes the creatives exist.

You need the ads made. Vibiz is the one tool here that starts from nothing. It reads your website, generates the creatives, launches them on Meta or Google with the service fee shown first, and builds the landing page they point to. It does not retarget across the open web, run connected TV or attribute email and SMS, so it is not a like-for-like swap for an AdRoll power user. Pro is $79 a month, or $63 a month billed yearly.

A practical test

Before switching, pull last quarter's AdRoll report and split spend into retargeting and prospecting. If most results come from retargeting a large audience, Criteo is the realistic test. If most budget already went to Meta through the Social Ads add-on, try AdEspresso or Madgicx on that account for a month. If the honest issue is that there was never enough traffic to retarget, start upstream with prospecting creatives; see how Vibiz makes and launches ads and the head-to-head Vibiz vs AdRoll.

Frequently asked questions

Criteo is the closest: it also retargets shoppers across the open web and social with dynamic product ads, and it also sells through sales rather than a public price.
