6 Later alternatives for social scheduling in 2026

Later's lower plans cap posts per profile and ration AI captions by credits, and its homepage now leads with influencer marketing. People look elsewhere for higher limits, a free plan, or help making the posts and ads.

What pushes people off Later

Later's pricing is built on social sets: one profile on each of its eight networks. As of October 2026 Starter is $18.75 a month billed yearly for one set and one user, Growth $37.50 for two sets and two users, and Scale $82.50 for six sets and four users. The limits are where people notice. Starter allows 30 posts per profile a month and five AI credits, where one credit writes one caption. Growth lifts that to 180 posts and 50 credits. Only Scale has unlimited posts, competitor benchmarking and Meta ads analytics.

The product has also changed shape. Later's homepage now leads with influencer marketing, full-service creator programmes and an affiliate platform, with social scheduling as one of four offers. That suits some brands and leaves others wondering whether the scheduler is still the priority.

Pick by what you miss

More posts for less. Buffer and Metricool both drop the per-profile caps on paid plans, subject to fair use. Buffer bills by channel, so a brand on three networks pays $18 a month on Essentials. Metricool bills by brand, five for $25 a month, and adds the stronger reports.

The grid, done properly. Planoly is Later's closest cousin: visual feed planning, a link-in-bio creator store with no transaction fees and automated Instagram DMs. Its page states plans from $14 a month but we could not confirm the price of each tier from it, so check at signup.

A bigger team. Hootsuite removes post caps and adds listening, routing and approvals, at $99 per user a month and up, billed annually.

AI that makes the visuals. Later's AI is captions and ideas. Predis.ai generates posts, carousels, Reels and ad creatives on credits from $19 a month billed yearly. Vibiz goes further in a different direction. It reads your website, proposes a month of posts, writes each caption for its channel and designs the visuals from the same product shots and video cuts it makes for your ads. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and X. On the paid side it runs Meta and Google ads pointing to a landing page with checkout. Pro is $79 a month, or $63 a month billed yearly; there is no free plan, and campaigns carry a service fee on ad budget.

How to test a replacement

Move one real month. Take last month's Later calendar and rebuild it in the alternative. Note anything you lose: grid preview, first-comment hashtags, Reels audio, product tags.

Check your bio link. If your Link in Bio drives sales, make sure the replacement has an equivalent before you switch, or plan to replace it with a proper landing page.

Count AI output, not credits. Ask each tool for a week of posts for the same product and count how many you would publish unchanged.

For a direct comparison, read Vibiz vs Later, or see the Buffer alternatives for more schedulers.
