Why preview an ad before it runs
Most ad mistakes are visible in the first second, and most of them are only visible in context. A headline that reads well in a document gets cut to a few words under the image. Primary text longer than about 125 characters collapses behind "See more". A product that fills a square crop ends up under the Story's call-to-action button in a 9:16 frame. A mockup shows all of that before you spend anything.
The tool draws five placements from one set of inputs:
| Placement | Shape | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook feed | 1.91:1 to 4:5 | First three lines of text, headline length next to the button |
| Instagram feed | 1.91:1 to 4:5 | The colored call-to-action bar and the two-line caption |
| Stories | 9:16 | Faces and text clear of the top bar and the button |
| Reels | 9:16 | Primary text over the bottom of the video, page name position |
| Carousel | 1:1 cards | Whether card two invites the swipe |
Feed images keep their own shape between 1.91:1 and 4:5, the way Meta crops them. Vertical placements fill the screen, so the edges of a square image are cut off.
A worked example
A gym is promoting a free first week. The team writes 160 characters of primary text, a 52-character headline and picks "Sign up" as the button.
In the Facebook feed preview, the text breaks after the third line and the offer ("first week free") falls behind "See more". The headline is cut at 30 characters because the button takes the rest of the row. Two fixes come straight from the preview: move the offer into the first sentence and shorten the headline to "Your first week is free" (23 characters). In the Story preview, the coach's face sits right under the top bar, so they switch to a version of the photo with more headroom. Three minutes, three fixes, no ad spend.
How to use the result
- Download each placement you plan to run and put them side by side. If one looks wrong, fix the source image or crop a version for that placement.
- Score the strongest image. "Score this ad" sends the first image to the ad creative grader, which ranks it against 13,622 real Meta ads. Grade two or three images and keep the best one.
- Fix the words before the picture. If the preview shows the message is unclear, the ad hook generator gives you opening lines and headlines by framework for your industry.
When the mockup is right and you want the real thing, "Generate this ad with Vibiz" takes your copy, placement and button into Vibiz, which builds the image for your brand. Your uploaded image is never sent; only the words are. You can also start from your website with the AI ad generator.
Before you export, check three things in each placement: the offer is visible without tapping "See more", nothing important sits under the platform's interface, and the button matches what happens after the click.
Limits
This is a preview, not Meta's own renderer. Fonts depend on your device, and Meta tests interface changes on some accounts before others. The carousel preview shows the first two cards the way a phone shows them, not the swipe. Like, comment and share counts are left out on purpose: a mockup with fake social proof is easy to mistake for a real ad, and it would hide the honest question, which is whether the creative works on its own.
